The Most Common Social Media Questions

1.      Does my business need to be on social media?

Answer: Yes, it needs to be on social media.

Explanation: based on research conducted by Statista in 2019, there are approximately 2.77 Billion people globally with at least one social media account. And where there are people, there is a possibility for revenues and clients.

Marketing in its best form is literally displaying your product to the most possible group of people to purchase it.

Whatever your business or brand is providing, whether it’s B2C or B2B, nonetheless dull your product might look, no matter how little your business is, regardless of how small your niche is, you will be able to discover your target audience on social media.

When I get a question like this, I always respond with a question of mine. And it goes like this:

“Think back at your previous ten customers, how many of them can you connect with on social media?”

The answer is almost usually 10 out of 10.

In a situation where your customers aren’t forthcoming, you need to go to them. Social media is the best place to do that; whether you’re building awareness, generating leads, or targeting additional digital sales.

2.      What is the perfect social network for my business?

Answer: That varies according to your business.

Explanation: This is part of the most commonly asked questions that I receive and although it’s very easy to answer when I know additional information about a business, its unrealistic to answer for every business…. nonetheless that doesn’t mean I can’t provide you every solid guidance.

As a general rule, I constantly recommend beginning by growing your presence on two networks. However, if you have a larger team or a committed social media manager; you can concentrate on more.

Although I can’t divulge to you the second network because it’s fully industry and target market dependent, I do advise that all businesses and brands utilize Facebook.

Out of the 2.77 billion global social media users initially stated 2.3 billion log on to Facebook at least once a month. This big percentage is just too huge to ignore.

You must take note that the success of your digital marketing efforts is dependent on how well you can target and reach your most suitable market…

…and they are most surely on Facebook!

The world’s largest social network (Facebook) is an awesome place to increase social proof, perform as a directory (many people utilize Facebook to research a business), craft a following, and promote your business.

3.      How Many Social Networks should my business be on?

Answer: How huge is your team?

Explanation: the number of networks you should be on is dependent on the size of your team, the number of people who can contribute to your social media efforts, and the amount of time you’ll apportion to it!

In a situation where you're a solopreneur and don't have many spare hours to advertise your business on social, I advise starting with 2.

Select Facebook and any other (the network with the highest percentage of your target market).

You must take note that, just because there are many different large social networks, that doesn’t mean you are required to go after all of them. it advisable for you to concentrate on a small number and accomplish tons of followers and high engagement than go after many and gain poor results.

But in a situation where you have a presence on a social network that you don't manage constantly, it can harm your business. Social media is compulsory, but only utilize the number of networks that you can manage, strategize, and optimize for your target market.

4.      What is the best way to grow my following on social media?

Answer: Let people follow you for a reason

Explanation: Based on my experience, a great social media marketing mistake is businesses that do nothing but promote themselves and their products while neglecting others.

Throw this question to yourself; would you want to follow a business on social that regularly shove their products down your throat?

Virtually all the people see this as irritating, spammy, and a newsfeed killer. And in instances where these businesses are fortunate enough to gain followers, most people will unfollow hastily after viewing these types of posts.

The most suitable way to grow a following is; generate a profile that a particular target audience wants to follow. Which means posting content that will attract them.

Your social content must educate, inform, and entertain your target audience in a way that will attract them. think about your content medium (written, video, audio, and so on) and content style. After which you need to ask yourself; Would you want to follow your business, if you were your target audience?

5.      Should I Advertise on Social Media?

Answer: Definitely! If you believe in your business, products, and yourself.

As a marketer, business owner financially supporting your business and products shouldn’t frighten you, it should make you happy.

Social media ads provide you the chance to be visible to more audiences in your target market; a place where they hang out. They can be used to build awareness, grow followings, engage an audience, generate revenues, and make sales.

The function of Facebook ads is to permit you to exactly target an audience by lots of different behaviors and demographics which include; location, interests, likes, browsing history, age, and so on.

Please note: The owner of Facebook is Instagram, thus if you’re planning on advertising on Instagram, use Facebook Business Manager and edit the placements of your ads to Instagram alone.

6.      How Often Should I Post on Social Media?

Answer: the brief answer is that you can post daily. While the long answer is that differs from one network to the other.

Explanation: you must post new content on your social profiles daily.

Posting constantly will engage your audience, build your awareness and following, keep your brand visibility high, and make your brand feel new and updated.

So that people seeing your brand daily will be reminded of it when they need to buy in your industry and are possibly a potential customer.

Nevertheless, some networks demand great attention than others.

7.      What kind of Posts should I Publish?

Answer: The type of content your target market will fall in love with!

Explanation: the answer to this question has a relation with the previous question about how to grow your social following.

An experienced social media marketer has all the knowledge about their target market and utilizes this to generating a posting strategy, including the kind of posts they publish.

Great posts educate, inform, or entertain the audience and it's generally accepted that you must regularly aim to tick at least one of those boxes.

Please note: the more research you perform before building out your social media marketing strategy, the hassle-free everything else is! The best way to do this is to generate a customer avatar of your ideal customer.

The moment you are not sure, all you need to do is to analyze your competitors and try to discover their highest-ranking posts. Your target market is not left out; thus, their posting strategy is highly worth replicating.

I'd also advise that you test with different content mediums, which means writing long-form content, posting links, images, videos, and short post updates. View what catches your audience's attention and optimize your publishing schedule to show this.

8.      What is the best time to post on social media?

Answer: The perfect time is briefly before your target audience is most probably to be online and as constantly as possible.

Explanation: There is a recurring theme to all these answers. Have you noticed it yet?

Before I begin informing you to discover as much as possible about your target audience… again…

… I want to lecture about consistency.

The easiest thing you can do is to give up if your posts aren’t gaining any engagement, your follower count isn’t increasing, and you’re losing the will to work on your business profile. It’s very easy to fall into an apathetic social media routine, however, you mustn’t let that occur.

You have to be constant. Which means never allowing your posting schedule to run empty. This means posting at the best time daily, will give you the best opportunity of reaching your target audience at a time preferred by them, not you!

The two factors that will hand you the best times to post are; the network you use and the market you’re targeting. Consider finding answers to the following questions:

·         What time does your target market work?

·         What are their jobs?

·         Do they commute?

·         When are they most probably to have some downtime to check social media?

·         What type of posts is most relevant to them at different times of the day?

·         Are your social media posts time-relevant (i.e. are you calling your audience to read a long content post at a time when they can only glance through their social?)?

·         What do they use social for? How does this affect the time they sign-in?

If you can answer the aforementioned questions perfectly and link this in with your most suitable network, you’ll swiftly find the perfect times to post on social media.

9.      Should I Follow a Social Media Posting Planner/ Calendar?

Answer: Affirmative! It's better to put in place one and not require it than require one and not put it in place!

Explanation: we follow a social media posting planner and it functions perfectly for us. It keeps our schedule organized, permits us to see when we’re low on content and most essentially, provides us the chance to roadmap a social media strategy.

Any moment we craft out a social media strategy for ourselves or our customers, we analyze our target market, choose the most suitable channels, and develop a posting strategy.

After this, we use this strategy to think of content and post ideas and input this into a social media posting planner. In so doing, we use our research to uppermost effect and never run out of posting ideas or content.

In a situation where you're blindly posting content that is not relevant, short on ideas when it comes to posting creation or finding it hard to implement a social strategy, get a social media posting planner and utilize it! They function very well!

10.  How Can I Measure Success on Social Media?

Answer: This is largely dependent on your digital goals, although the most common answers are; engagement level, follower count, and conversions driven from social.

Explanation: anytime this question pops up from a customer, I always have this thinking that the person asking is running out of patience with social media marketing.

The simple answer is; it largely depends on your goals. Are you using social to craft brand awareness? Increase your digital presence? Generate leads? Convert leads into customers?

For most people, it will be all of those things, although the struggle is splitting them into different metrics.

The following are the metrics I’d recommend using for each of those objectives:

Brand Awareness: Like, share, and comment rate, and follower growth

Digital Presence: Follower, share count, and website traffic driven from social

Lead Generation: Number of leads gotten from social, tracked by Insights, or by conversions.

Conversions: Revenue got from social, including average order value, customer count, and conversion rate.

Separate your social media objectives into different entities and begin to track their performance with the aforementioned basic metric outlines.
